THE APU TIMES

     土曜日の体育館は運動部やサークルで賑わっている。中でも真剣な目で練習をしているチームがいた。 APU フットサルサークル、 DELFINO である。フットサルとは、体育館の中で 5 人対５人で行われるスポーツである。基本的なルールはサッカーと同じだが、実際のサッカーのフィールドよりも狭いスペースで行われるために、バスケットボールのような反復運動が特徴であり、息を止めて見入ってしまうようなスポーツである。 DELFINO は 2008 年の全日本フットサル大学選手権で九州大会 3 位という快挙を成し遂げた。今年もその大会の大分県大会が 5 月 30 日に行われる。彼らの目標は大分県大会で優勝し、鹿児島で行         われる九州大会でも勝ち、全国に行くことである。今は 4 回生が就職活動でチームから抜けているため、新メンバーの�...

     A Photo exhibition on war effects in Vietnam was held in APU by TRAIDAT. The photos presented in the TRAIDAT‘s exhibition pin pointed the heartrending effect of Agent Orange in Vietnam during the Vietnam War (1959-1975). This poison has caused many abnormalities in new born babies and the residents near the contaminated sites. Water sources including aquatic life have been severely affected by Agent Orange. Inhabitants using the contaminated resources are the victims of this chemical. Photos not only described the consequences but also clearly illustrated the pain that people had to face during those dark days. Specifically the images such as Duc and Viet and Nguyen Thi Kong were drew the largest attractiong from the visitors as they conspicuously portrayed the agony of the vicitms.
